Sunday saw the first “ Yes We Can” Oscars and over 120 participants, parents, carers and guests turned up to enjoy a celebration of the last year of this South West Bedfordshire Disability Sports Program that is lead by the Rotary Club of Leighton Linslade.
Every participant received a medal and each sport nominated an individual as their player of the year, with the trophies being handed out by a variety of guests including MK Dons Legend and Community Ambassador Dean Bowditch, Invictus Games Medalist Daniel Bingley, Town Mayor Councillor Dave Bowater and Rotary District Governor Mary Whitehead.
The whole event was sponsored by OMM Solicitors of Leighton Buzzard who have already committed to supporting the Oscars in 2021.
“Richard Johnson OBE of the Rotary Club of Leighton Linslade said.
We are incredibly grateful to OMM Solicitors for their continuing support of “ Yes We Can” as we strive to bring accessible, affordable and sustainable sporting opportunities to those in South West Bedfordshire with a Disability. We are also in awe of all our participants, parents, carers, coaches and other sponsors who are making “ Yes We Can” the dynamic program that it is.
